Strange email header

I had moved my site to a new hosting system. Later, I noticed a strange format of the From field in the email header sent from the system. It looks like that:

    From: “\M\Y\S\I\T\E\N\A\M\E.hu” <[email protected]>

The capital letters are ale marked with backslash. The mail format is UTF-8, but on the old system everything was the same, except this. Unfortunately, these marks are shown in some webmail clients exactly like this, which is really not nice, and maybe cared also as spam.

Do You have an idea what can cause this?

Please take a look at this thread. Are you on the latest build?

I have ExpressionEngine 1.6.6 20081114 now. I can not upgrade easily. The strange is, that this worked fine on the other server.

Is there any way to manage this (temporary) without the update?

Try replacing /system/core/core.email.php from a fresh download, FaithX.

Pardon?  What do you mean it’s a bad request?  It works just fine.  Or do you mean it’s not working that way on your own site?

When I first clicked I’ve got an error message from this site:

    Bad request

I tried to reopen it, refresh, it was the same, then I’ve removed the closing thread, and it worked. Strangely, it’s working now with the closing tag also… I noticed similar behaviour on the EE site, it’s just not deterministic…

Sounds like it might be a local issue with handling redirects, there’s literally no difference between those two requests from EE’s perspective.  Let us know if you need additional help with your email issue.
