As EllisLab has grown, the day-to-day operation of the business has always fallen on my shoulders, even though I’ve never been particularly well-suited for that role.  I’m not a manager by nature.  I’m much more of a creative type, who loves nothing more than the challenge of developing new product ideas.  As we’ve grown, however, I’ve had little time to devote to that role, even though historically, product development has been my single most important contribution to this company.

Thankfully, over the past few months, Les has increasingly assumed many of the daily responsibilities that were falling on my shoulders, not only to help put me back into a role that is much more beneficial to us, but to improve upon how things were being done.  Les, unlike me, loves building teams and developing internal systems and processes.  He enjoys goal-setting, and measuring, and fine-tuning.  He’s also great at communicating both internally and externally, interfacing with our customers and colleges.  In short, he’s simply better suited than I am to manage the company.

It took us a while to come to this realization, but now that we have, it makes sense to honor him with a title change that reflects his growing responsibilities.  I’m particularly excited about this change, as it not only improves our day-to-day operation, but allows us to better utilize my strengths, as we look to broaden our range of applications.

Please join me in welcoming Les Camacho in his new role as President of EllisLab!
