Last week I did a new install of 1.6.1 that I bought last year and never installed…got my site up and running and then downloaded and installed update to 1.6.7 I think I followed everything as specified, but when I try to access the system I have a blank screen. Did I miss something and make a common mistake??

Now, I’ve added insult to injury by trying to walk back through the process a second time. I hear the howling laughter already…
We’ll it made it through 1.6.4 and on the way to 1.6.5 it gives me this message:
MySQL ERROR:
Error Number: 1060
Description: Duplicate column name ‘last_author_id’
Query: ALTER TABLE `exp_templates` ADD `last_author_id` INT(10) UNSIGNED NOT NULL AFTER `edit_date
Any suggestions as to where I should proceed from here??

when you say “what back through the process a second time,” are you starting from scratch with a fresh 1.6.1 install?

I repeated the update. I’m pretty sure that if I go back to a fresh install that all will be well.

As I suspected…when I just started from scratch with a fresh install life became good again. Thanks
