Hi - for some reason the latest installation of EE is not letting me save templates as files.

The permissions of the folder are correct - 777 - and new template groups create the relevent folders as expected, but none of the templates in any of the groups will save.

It’s displaying: “Unable to save your template as a text file”.

    Any ideas?

Marc, do you have the settings for your folders set up correctly? In particular the Basepath to Template File Directory path?

yes, I think so. After all - it is creating sub folders for the template groups

Check with your FTP program that those subdirectories are also set to 777.

yes they are but then they are created by the system, so you’d expect them to be.

Hmmm… then I’m going to revert to basic troubleshooting.

Try Disabling_Extensions first. See if that makes a difference.

they were never enabled - clean install.

The odd thing is, I have another site running on the same virtual server - no problems.

Is safe_mode on by any chance?

    brilliant.

That was it - new sites on this server are safe mode on by default.

    Thanks for that

You know, that would be a good warning to add to the install file.
    Thanks again.

Good idea. Sounds like a great Feature request. Don’t hesitate to post again if needed.
