Unfortunately I found this solution AFTER uploading more than 200 images. How can I now regenerate the thumbnails and medium images using the new setting?

There isn’t a way to batch regenerate the images (and database records) all at once- though it would make a good feature request.
I’m not sure which approach I’d take- redoing them via the ‘batch entries’ is probably the best way. It would keep handling of all gallery images consistent. The fastest ‘get it working now’ method would likely be using a plugin- Image Sizer is the one I frequently use. If you don’t have the gallery generate med and thumbs, and just rely on the plugin going forward, this option would also allow for consistency. (In fact, I typically keep my images in a weblog and use the plugin to handle thumbs and such as it’s the most flexible approach.)
I’m going to shift this one to ‘How to’ in case you want to hash out your options there. (The current behavior isn’t buggy, though you might want to put in a feature request.)

OK; thanks for the reply; I already use imagesizer, and it works well, but images need to be processed first, and it seemed like a waste of all the thumbs and mediums already generated. OK, thanks. I’ll input a feature request.
