    I having trouble getting the search parameter to work in the weblog entries tag. I thought my version of EE might be too old but I am running 1.6.1 and the code for search definitely looks like it is in mod.weblog.php

    Here’s my code

    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="video" site="default_site" search:video-description="2007" category="69&941;" paginate="both" limit="6"}

    All the other parameters like categories and limits etc. are working fine but I still get all results back from the search.

    I’m hoping there is something obvious wrong with it.

    Thanks in advance

    Emily,

    I would recommend updating, as there have been security improvements, bug fixes and new features added since 1.6.1.

    However, video-description is a valid custom field, with dates in it right?

    Hi,

    I’m working on the system admin to get him to update but until then I have been trying different things with the code but all still come back with everything.

    I have created a blank template with just this code in and still get the same result.

    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="video" site="default_site" search:video-description="New Zealand" }

    <h1>{title}</h1>
    <h2>{url_title}</h2>
    <p>{video-description}</p>

    <p>{/exp:weblog:entries}

    Here is an example video-description

    DMIMD 2005 - Dr Dianne Webster, of Starship Childrens Health, Auckland, New Zealand, presents on ‘The Macphe Rewards Programme ‘. Part 2 of 2…Run Time 10:46

    How hard is the update? The site I’m working on is live and very large (9 sites in MSM) and would be a nightmare if anything was to break!

    Thanks

    The update should be relatively painless. I always make a backup of my database first, and then make sure my config.php file is writable.

    Ok thanks, we are going to do it on a development server first and see how it goes!

    Ok, we did the upgrade and all went very smoothly, however this search function is still not working. Is it a piece of functionality that is not compatible with the MSM like the advanced search?

    Here’s my code again - video-description is definitely the correct field name (although I hoped for a minute that it was that simple!)

    {exp:weblog:entries weblog="video" site="default_site" search:video-description="2003" category="69&941;" paginate="both" limit="6"}

    Thanks

    Ok I’ve been testing and this is definitely a MSM issue as this code works perfectly on the default site but breaks on any other. I have reported it as a bug, but a quick fix would be really handy!

    As an FYI to anyone reading in the future- we’ve got this one hashed out in the Bug forum.  Currently, the search parameter doesn’t work when using site.  See the linked bug thread for details and discussion of possible workarounds.
