    I edited some URLs and PATHs in the database via phpmyadmin and now the site doesn’t work.

    I edited some data in the exp_sites table in these records: site_system_preferences, site_mailinglist_preferences, site_member_preferences, site_template_preferences, site_weblog_preferences

    I had successfully moved the site from a MediaTemple Grid Server to one of their Dedicated Virtual servers. But, for some reason, the “My Site” link in the EE Admin area still linked to a MT Grid Server address from early development (which looked like domain.com.sXXXXX.gridserver.com). I had changed the configuration settings in EE Admin, but it had no affect, which is why I went into phpmyadmin.

    I realize now that that was the wrong table to edit that in.

    So, now, I have a website that does not work. This is attached a commerce site, so I really, really, need some help to figure this one out.

    And — I’m an idiot. I don’t have a backup of the database. :(

    Please, help!

    Hi, Ricky; the exp_sites table stores its data in a serialized array - this is a very specific storage mechanism down to the number of characters.  A search and replace should never be performed on that table.

    In this case you need to restore from a backup and follow these instructions to move to a new server/update your paths.

    If you do not have a backup of the database, does your host perhaps have one that you could make use of?

    I just heard back from them. No backup. I will just have to try my best to return the edited data back to what it was by memory. =/

    So you don’t have a backup at all? Even a few months old?  We really only need the exp_sites table itself.

    Holy crap! Yes! Awesome! I had a backup of my system through JungleDisk, in which I had a copy of the database. Anyway, it’s back online.

    THANK YOU.

    I will start having regular backups of my databases. 😊

    1 more problem…

    EE Admin is not loading stylesheets. It looks like this in the header (with the spaces):

    <style type='text/css'>

    </style>

    So, it looks to me like there is a conditional statement that isn’t being met, and so the CSS is being left out.

    Any ideas?
