Being a stupid head at 3:00 am I decided that I was awake enough to do some updating on the EE core. I was updating the discussion forum module in a 1.6.3 instance of EE. Thinking that would be best before doing the 1.6.6 update (bad assumption) - I’ve fudged up something. Whatever I was thinking, I should have read more carefully the notice at the top of the installation doc and used common sense before upgrading. To my saving grace though I did following all the rules for replacing the files and having the forum auto update in the control panel! Since I didn’t update the core to 1.6.6 I bet I have a problem with matching something up in the DB. Here’s the error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: format_characters() in /home/9189/domains/podcast-tuneup.com/html/ptcore/modules/forum/mod.forum_core.php on line 2834

Since I didn’t touch the DB in any way I assume it’s just confused where to look and 1.6.6 has a conflict? I checked the DB and it seems to be fine. Of course, I did back up the DB at that point. Would updating the 1.6.6 solve the issue? Before I move forward I felt it wise to consult. Any help would be appreciated - thanks

Yes, the forum module and EE proper must be kept in sync. Try upgrading to the latest build of EE.
