    Hello,
Noob here looking for a little help. I am trying to set up my Template Groups and Templates. What is the thought behind these objects? My main page has 4 sections Portfolio being one of them. Lets say ‘Portfolio’ has 3 sub sections each of those holding actual galleries. Do I make a Template Group for Portfolio and each subsection (painting, sculpture….) or does all this stuff live under *site. As you can tell I am unsure of how to properly implement the EEngine.

    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

You are correct, templates are in reality your site structure.

And what are template groups? Complex sections of the site structure?

Your template group would be your structure, and your template would be pages underneath that group.

    For example.

Template Group would be “Portfolio” then you would create 3 templates underneath that and call them there gallery name.

So your url would be yoursite.com/portfolio/painting

    Hope that helps.

Yes, that’s it. Template Groups are “sections” (or, THE site) of a site. Templates are the sub-structure. Note that the template groups and template can be named in such a way as to benefit the “density” of the URL string which is good for search engine optimization.
