If I have 30 custom fields and three custom field groups (ten for each). When updating custom fields order, do I must fill in the box with the custom field’s (real) ID or I can input an arbitrary number?

    Thanks,

(I guess I can input an arbitrary number. But I’d like to confirm that. thanks)

You number them in the order that you’d like them to appear.

    fields 1
    another field 2
    field 3

You could then number them to display like so:

    field 1
    another field 2
    fields 3

    *EDIT*
I’m sure you probably already know that though. (I just read your other post)

I’m thinking the answer is ‘yes’- but want to confirm where you’re doing this.  Is it in ‘ADmin- Weblog Admin- Custom Weblog Fields’ click ‘edit custom fields’ and then the ‘Field order’ link?  Yes- an arbitrary number is fine.  I usually skip a couple so number things 1, 3, 5 or something- so if I need to wedge one in it’s easy.  Same logic applies if you are editing a specific field’s ‘Field Display Order’.

    Make sense?
