Does anyone have a “EE Backup Solution” since the new version doesn’t include the option? I have found that Navicat can do a decent job for the database side… does anyone know of an all inclusive backup?

The EE Backup option was never all-inclusive; it was database only.  You can use PHPMyAdmin, Navicat, or any other database manipulation utility to export your tables and do a backup of the database.

hmmm, ok. I was just wondering if there is a way to pull the database and directories/files into one big zip with a simple click = looking for the lazy mans way out!

    Just an idea…

No, I am not aware of any such solution. That said, I rarely backup my files: EE files are easy to replace anyway, and for the odd uploaded image or two I rely on my web host’s backup. You’ll definitely want to hang on to the db, though.

Ingmar, what client do you use? PHPMyAdmin?

I believe items such as cPanel offer such capabilities - that said, I never trusted such a utility and preferred to simply download the files myself and make my own backup; verifying that it was all usable. =)

phpMyAdmin is one way of doing it, yes. I never found it particularly reliable, though, so I tend to use the command line when and where available, or MySQLdumper.

How about one of you kind wizards…write a php script that backs up mysql and w/ a cron that runs it and auto emails it. 😊

Would you be surprised if I told you MySQLdumper does that out of the box (and then some)?

If you’re using cpanel, I found this script a year or so ago for backing up an entire site and its mySQL db(s). I have a cron set to ftp my data automatically to a cheapo Dreamhost account I set up for the purpose.

To avoid the problem of the script overwriting a good backup with a corrupted version, I have three versions of the script, cronned (?) to backup daily, weekly and monthly into different folders on the Dreamhost account.

    Hope this helps.
