    Hi everyone.

Im hoping that a few people in this forum may have some Expression Engine sites that are hosted on Media Temples standard Grid hosting service.

If you could post a few it would help me to trouble shoot an issue Im having.

Also if you get a moment and you are based in the US would you mind visiting this url http://www.noshgourmet.com and reporting back on how long it takes the page to load.

Basically MT are blaming my ISP for the delays in loading this site and Im trying to pin down the real reasons.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can lend a hand with this.

    Cheers Elliot

Elliot, I haven’t timed it, but it isn’t fast.

Compare that with http://devwoman.com - which is also on GS, and fairly slow to come up.

compared with http://shetakespictures.com - using the same template.

    See the difference?

They load up nicely… under 10 secs from here, while mine takes 30 secs.

I see you found my other thread. I would have thought that these example sites would discredit MT’s latest presumption that its my ISP.

Im really starting to lose patience on this one.

    Thanks for the links 😉

    Cheers Elliot

The first part of gathering the site (contacting the server, really) takes a long time. However after that it all loads pretty nicely.

I would check with the DNS server and see if it was all in order.

    Hi Doggle52

Thanks I’ll go take another look at the DNS.

The static HTML pages are really fast though… wouldn’t they be slow to if it was a DNS issue?

See what I mean here: http://www.noshgourmet.com/provisioning.html

Is there anything in particular that you suggest I look out for in the DNS settings?

    Thanks Elliot

it took about 17 seconds for me….

i was having a similar problem with loads, and it was frustrating, after complaining to my host, he upgraded the version of Apache and the firewall and that seemed to make a huge difference… although sometimes there’s still a “lag” but not nearly as often.

i was also experiencing slowness in the CP for EE. but now i’m very happy….

    G’day

Thanks for the feedback… hoping to get to the bottom of it. I don’t think I’ll ever go near MT again.

Meh, well I meant that you should ask MediaTemple about their DNS servers, you can’t check it yourself as you don’t really have access to them (hopefully 😉 ).

I get what you mean now… Thanks.

I checked that the correct DNS were set up but I see what you are getting at.

It looks like Robin from EE helped me solve the problem I was having by turning off all caching.

I would swear blind that I had tried this yesterday and that it didn’t work… today however it worked and the load time is now great. Yay EE support team… they’re great.

    Thanks for your input though.

    Cheers Elliot

You can’t close it yourself, an admin has to do it for you.

Yes, and generally only do that for “Tech Support” threads. Just don’t worry about it 😊
