This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I’m getting a similar problem here.  All of the emails registration and control panel are coming into my gmail account as spam,  I don’t have any ideas where to start.  For me personally I could create a strong enough filter to get them through, but that sort of thing isn’t going to fly with users.

jhgravelle, what is the value set here:

Admin ›  System Preferences ›  Email Configuration

Webmaster or site name for auto-generated emails

Is that set, or is it blank?

I have both of those fields filled in.
    webmaster is a gmail address
site name is just some text.

I just registered a new gmail account and the auto validation worked.
Sending an email as the new gmail to the webmaster and coping self got flagged on both ends
Sending an email from a yahoo to the new gmail and coping self got flagged by the new gmail account.  I don’t see it reaching yahoo at all (spam or otherwise) although there is soooo much spam there i might have missed it.

Which EE version and Build are you running? You can find that information at the bottom of any EE control panel page.

Two things.  Let’s get you on the latest build to see if that helps.

Now also - you say you have gmail as your return address.  This probably doesn’t match your domain or what’s entered on your server, so could be the cause of gmail marking it as spam.  Have you tried with an email address at the domain your site is at?
