    Hi,

I’m using the gallery module on a client’s site. My client is not an experienced website user. He uploads pictures using the gallery addition (uploads with browser)
his pictures are all huge 3xxx by 3xxx pixels of about 4 MB.

Do you know any free tool I could recommend him to use on this computer so he can resize his pictures first before uploading them ?
It must be something free and very easy to use…

    Thanks in advance 😉

Are his photos in an application?

And you know you can remove the pictures once he has put them in a gallery right? Wouldn’t be that hard to set up a cron job to remove the files once uploaded.

I don’t think his pictures are inside an application. Except if he uses some application that was bundled with his digital camera.

I’m going to instruct him to use the batch folder every time he wants to add pictures but still, before uploading them to the batch folder I want to instruct him to make his pictures a bit smaller.
That’s why I’m looking for an easy to use tool on vista or XP to do so.

I know of a few tools but they not that user friendly…

I ain’t no Windows guy, but GIYF.

The first 4 hits all talk about the same method. Doesn’t look too hard.

I’ll give him a few options he can choose of 😊

For image apps on Windows, you can’t get much better than IrfanView. It can do everything.

i would normally suggest a free or cheap version of paintshop pro of photoshop elements.

if that does not work, why not use the “file” extension which allows you to up load, resize and delete original. or resizer which allows you to just do it in the template and then cache the smaller pic:
    http://docs.markhuot.com/ee/extensions/file/
    http://www.lumis.com/site/page/imgsizer/

or what about free online resizers: (first four from google)
    http://www.drpic.com/
    http://www.resize2mail.com/
    http://www.resizr.com/
    http://online-image-resize.kategorie.cz/

or perhaps somehting like googles picasa????
