    Hi all,

We currently use a Timecapsule to store all our stuff but I dread the pantwetting moment when something nasty happens to it…

So I’d like to backup the Timecapsule to something online; with scope to backup anything between 500GB to 1TB for a reasonable cost.

Amazon S3 would be great, but can’t think of any backup clients like Apple Backup that might use it…

    Dan.

How long would it take to upload 1tb! Why don’t you just have a backup policy where you take backups home or offsite and rotate? Probably cheaper and easier than uploading potentially gigs of data every day (which would probably take a day to upload in itself!

I use a couple of buffalo terastation pro 4tb nas drives with raid 5, one backs up to the other. I also remember seeing an article online by some bloke where he tells you how to configure time machine to backup to a nas type system.

Raid 5 nas backing up to another raid 5 nas for a little added paranoia protection.

I’m no backup specialist, but I don’t see it getting any safer than that. Preferably the two nas’es would be in separate buildings offcourse… Imagine your place going up in flames :s

There is always one offsite. Sweet.
