I installed the EE Wiki which seemed easy enough but I must be missing something as I can’t get it to come up on mydomain.com/wiki
That keeps going to the frontpage, some config setting undoubtedly but I can’t find it.

Did you follow Step 5 of the wiki installation docs?

After you install the wiki, there is one more step you need to do:
EEHowTo Wiki: Wiki Template Syntax
