I have member registration working but the self-activation isn’t sending the e-mails to the users once they sign up.
In the Admin ›  Members and Groups ›  Membership Preferences i have the Require Member Account Activation? set to self-activation but it’s still not sending the e-mail.
Any advise on how to resolve this so that i don’t have to manually active each user?

What version and build are you on? Does email work fine, otherwise? When you use the “communicate” tab, can you send mail normally?

My first bet would be a spam trap.  Do you have values in the first two fields under ‘Admin- System Prefs- Email’?  And- do you have an email you can send to via communicate that you know gets through- that you can use for testing the sign-up.  See if it gets through with that addy?

And an upgrade wouldn’t hurt to blow out the dust.  Though my money is still on it being filtered.

No chance it’s being caught in a spam filter?  And they are being signed up as ‘pending’ correct?  Just- no email getting through?  If you like, send me a link and I’ll try signing up, see what happens.  Also- any extensions currently installed?

No there not in the spam filter. And yes the users are marked as pending but no e-mail is being received.
I do have extensions installed but i don’t think there interfering.

Since I was already in the cp on the comment thread, took a closer look at email.  You didn’t have a valid return email addy- had a . instead of an @.  I changed it- then signed up in a different browser- email came through fine that time.

Run a few test emails through it- but as far as I can see, it should be fine now.  Let us know if you run into trouble- or if it tests out ok.  I suspect it will.
