YUI 3.0 is looking really good. They’re addressing the key complaints with YUI 2 which is file size (dependencies are now included only as needed), execution speed, and code power (doing a lot with less code). It also looks like they’re taking some cues from jQuery.

I’m really looking forward to a faster, cleaner, rapid-prototyping YUI library. The quality of current-generation YUI widgets (such as the YUI rich text editor, DataTable, and Panel controls) is really impressive, I hope that it remains so after version 3 lands.

Preview Release 1 Announcement

While YUI file size can be a bit larger than I would like it beats the heck out of the hidden bloat in Prototype-like frameworks.  I cannot stand the mangling of existing objects that occurs with these. I am amazed that so many people look the other way as the client is turned into a memory leaking mess.
