    Hello!

    I’m relatively new to PHP. I know .NET, Ruby, and Rails very well.

    There seems to be many way of connecting to a database in PHP - many libraries, many ORM abstractions, etc.

    Is there a ‘standard library’ for DB connection? What does ExpressionEngine use? How about CodeIgniter?

    EE uses its own db abstraction layer. You don’t really need to concern yourself with it, unless you absolutely want to.

    Yes, but I think it’s built on something no? I noticed that MDB2 was required for the installation to work.
