Which table is it i n the database? I’m moving the site to a new host, and installing the newest EE at the same time.
I can’t seem to get the old forums moved over.

This is a working EE install using the EE forums? Should move the entire database- then upgrade. Unless I’m misunderstanding.

Working EE install, on a new host, so it’s a new (empty) database.
Old database has 96 tables, I do an export and import to the new database and I have no members, no forums, etc. I do have weblog posts and comments.
Getting errors on import. Drat.
ETA : Got the members in.

What version are you trying to import? Basically- you do not want to try and import some tables from an older db into a fresh new install.
You want to either upgrade the older version- then move that upgraded db. Or- move the old version of the db- then upgrade it.
You want to upgrade and move (or vice versa)- not import.

That’s what I was afraid of. Okay, I’ll yank the discussion forum module, install the older one, move the database, then upgrade to the newest one?
Except, I no longer have a copy of 1.3.2. So that’s no longer an option.
ETA: Got the forums moved.

Issue #1: I have a running EE 1.5.2 that needs to be moved to a different host and upgraded.
Actions: Backed up the whole thing via FTP, shut the 1.5.2 site down, did a full database backup.
Problem: I no longer have EE 1.5.2 to load onto the new server, and I see no link for it in downloads. Unfortunately I’m getting some database errors when I try to load 1.6.4 and use the backed up database.

So, you’re all set now?

Nope, totally dead in the water. Database errors and no way to “upgrade” since I don’t have a copy of EE 1.5.2 to load on the new server.

Are we talking about the forums or regular EE? Either way, installing the latest version and then performing an update should work.

I cannot update, I only have EE 1.6.4 and EEDF 2.1.0 to load on the new server. So I have new software with an old(1.5.2 and 1.3.2) database.

Well, yes, but how is that different from updating? You install the new code and then run update.php. EE will then make the necessary changes to the database and update the data you are having.

I did that, and update.php didn’t work. Error: config.php is locked. So I changed the database info on the config.php for the new server information, and the update.php simply errors out.
ETA: So, I’ve fought with it and got most of it working.
I still need to work out my sub-domains, which don’t work when I follow the instructions in the user guide and the knowledge base.

Astro, your original problem appears to be fixed.. can you create a new thread with the issue of your sub-domains?
#14 / Jul 23, 2008 9:23am
Sure Sue. I’m still having multiple database issues, but I’ll get them worked out eventually.

Astro- I’ll go ahead and close this out. But just to be clear- you don’t need the old files to update. Even if for some reason all you have is a database. The only critical file to the update would be config.php. If you have that and the database- then you just put up the latest version and run the update script according to docs. The config.php must be writable- as noted. I would have updated the old site, made sure it was working- then moved it.
Sounds like you did get it moved/updated, so I’ll go ahead and close it out.
