Hi there, this is not really a EE bug report but I felt this was the closest section for this.
    In the webpage:
    http://www.enginehosting.com/web_hosting/network/
    The map image:
    http://www.enginehosting.com/images/design/network_map.gif

Doesn’t show the map, just the pins, at the default LCD display color settings.
If I use a setting like “Image/Design/Cool” it shows, but I think most of the users have their monitors at the default settings, so I would make the map darker.

    Just my 2 cents.

I’ll let the EH crew know, mencargo; we do not manage their website.  FWIW my display uses the default settings and it looks fine.

The land masses are too light in my opinion. On my mac laptop I can’t see the continents until I’ve scrolled the image nearly to the top of my monitor.

They look okay here too but then I do calibrate my monitor every couple of weeks or so.

Christopher if you are on a MacBook and you can see the image fine at the top of your monitor then this will definitely be something to do with viewing angle. To be able to see an image different at one part of a monitor rather than another would be very worrying in my opinion so unless there is something very wrong with your monitor I would tend to think that this is because of your viewing angle.

Admittedly here on a correctly calibrated monitor the land mass does look a little light but it is still fine.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

It is most definitely viewing angle. But point is with my laptop on my lap, the graphic is washed out completely. A shade or three darker and it would look good from my angles.

I can see it fine in all of my monitor settings: Normal, High contrast, lovely, coolest dude in town, so hip it hurts, mirror effect and Adobe RGB.

The image is fine, but yes, it could probably use a little more contrast.

Actually for all of the feedback, thank you.  The map was originally done by Jesse as part of the original site design almost 1 1/2 years ago now.  We are actually in the midst of revamping that page anyway to represent additions to our network anyway so the map will look different in the not too distant future too.

As a matter of record though I viewed that page on everything from a really (really) low quality Mag 14” LCD monitor barely good for text only display directly pulled into a Linux server much less a GUI, through to my Macbook Pro, a staffers Macbook, as well as a Dell ultrasharp 20” wide screen on a Mac Pro and in all cases the map looked the same visually.

But again, map will be changing anyway, even outside of this conversation, so thank you 😊
