Do you remember that time, when you went: NO, you don’t do that!
Then you would shake your head and have that really disappointed look on your face…
Subject: Microsoft Silverlight.
Question: Why?
I always thought highly of microsoft. ok, no I didn’t 😊 you gotta be crazy to…
So, the community here is very interested in everything new and the latest technologies should always be inspected. So I went ahead and looked into silverlight, yes I installed it.
So, I am a loyal firefox user, used it since the first betas, God knows when, back in the times when FF really sucked, photoshop 7 was popular and macromedia was macromedia. Silverlight install goes through nicely. Then I wanted to see the demos.
Googled, thought, let’s start with non-microsoft ones, this web site, still thinks I do not have silverlight installed, after re-intalling it 3 times I gave up on non-microsoft silverlight demo sites. So I went on and tried the original microsoft silverlight demo site, it was foolish of me to expect anything that is actually working, wasn’t it? It took about 5 minutes to load (im not kidding, I timed it), then it looked kinda shit, like those low quality youtube videos, so I refreshed the page and I got an xml parsing error, refreshed again and again, same thing, eventually it said that I need to reinstall silverlight, did that… 3 times, re-booted.. etc.. same shit 😊
I eventually got the picture: silverlight devs do not know that firefox exists.
Tried IE 6 and it actually worked, I looked through the magnificent examples, take a look at this web site: http://www.aglux.com.my/default.aspx
Here is a ie6 screen shot of it(if you don’t wanna use silverlight): http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/9781/roflqj8.jpg
2d? use flash fucktards, actionscript + true 3d. FORGET IT MICROSOFT.
This is simply not funny.
No microsoft, no! Bad dog. You don’t do that! Flash > silverligh, then again, flash has a big future in application development, for example a few mobile pc/small laptop linux distros use flash for the main UI, and its banging, but flash will lose the battle to ajax/javascript, I mean all the effects are there… Where does silverlight have a chance to grow? You know, the saddest thing, 10 years later, silverlight will be the more widely spread than flash, cause of the moronic obedience of the average user, this is the first time in my whole life, when I actually want apple to succeed and win the race, they are clever enough not to create crap like silverlight, if they will want something along those lines, they will buy adobe all together and boost it if anything.
