    hi all,

Nothing related to CI but hope this is a good place to post this…

Now, Im quite new with PHP and have done few small PHP applications for my friends.

I was in to CI and fallow some tuts found on the net and seems like I now can manage to work on medium size projects with PHP with the help of CI.

I am about to launch a web site to take orders form ppl all around the world for small and medium scale freelance projects and just wanna know what are the web development rates in common…..

    well.. let me tell u…
I need to develop an simple job listing application with PHP.
There will be a admin area to manage the posted jobs by the users and to manage registered users.
Adding new articles just like blog by the administrator.
User sign up before posting jobs and applying jobs…
Internal communication between freelancers and employers.
Job listing alone with job categories and job searching…
Donations for the site via paypal…
    Visitor contact us page.

For this site who much i do need to charge?
With the design and development what is the normal time will take for a project like this?

    Thanks in advance!!

You’ll have to sit down and think how long it will take you, decide on an hourly wage, then multiply the two.

Your hourly wage will depend on how much experience you have, which will also influence your development time.

I just completed a “Job Board” - minus a few of your features, plus some more.
    - No user registration
    - Spam Filtering via Akismet
    - Basic admin panel to delete job postings
    - No internal communications (no members)
    - Automatic post deletion after 30 days
    - Automatic emails to job posters when add is set to expire within 3 days

Now, I have a lot of CI experience and this was pretty much a direct port of another application. It took me about 14 hours to complete this project - I didn’t really count, but that’s a good guess.

At my rates, which are low for the states but much more than offshore coders - it would have run about $1000.

    hi!
    thanks for your replies…

Im not much experienced with CI, so as i think it may take me about 5-6 days to complete the task.

I found it bit difficult to cost the projects.
I have browse and found out different people saying different rates.

Some I have found 10USD per hour and some 50USD per hour.
And some people doing design for 200USD and some people 1500USD (only web site design huh??).

Anyway need to find some resonable rates for me…

Seems to me 1000USD is okey!!!
And is this rate for design + development or only development?
So how much will be for design?

    thanks again.
