Could you help me compile a useful list of the reasons why it’s a good idea to turn PHP safe mode off. What things can you only do with it off? I know that doing so has solved a number of problems but I haven’t done enough sites to know them off the top of my head. I’m trying to negotiate with someone who runs a server for a major site I’m planning – who’s says it is a significant problem to turn it off.
