I’ve tried searching around for information about this, but haven’t seen much details about it, so I’m assuming that either no one else has thought of it, or it’s a gray area.

With the abstract way of how weblogs function, couldn’t one resourceful sap put together a very basic forum board together? Has anyone seen any implementations of a board that have used a weblog?

Why would you want to do this when there’s the Discussion Forum module?

Didn’t Pmachine Pro do it that way? Bottom line, it might be possible, using an SAEF, comments and what not, but, personally, I wouldn’t bother to save a few dollars. There is a perfectly working forum module available, as you know.

I’m not looking to personally do this.. I’ve just wondered if it’s ever been implemented, as I have a friend interested in EE for his personal art site, but not looking to invest extra in any further undertakings via add-on’s.

You can do this, and I did prior to the Discussion Forum existing. It’s very pared down, just as Ingmar said with the SAEF, a weblog entries tag, and comments as the responses.  All in the templating.
