I was just reading this thread about on-line survey systems for EE and realised it was a bit old now. Do any of you use on-line Survey systems and have any been of benefit?

I have tested Zoomerang’s service on one site over the last week with a disappointing 3% return (and no one even started the survey after day three when I put a large appealing button on the home page! - obviously need to do some more A/B testing on my buttons…)

I think SurveyMonkey and SurveyGizmo are the tw more popular, though Zoomerang is in the Top 3 or 5. I think the number of click throughs is more dependent on the survey design, issue, number of questions, etc. Most people don’t care which tool you use, so long on their end it was quick, easy to use, and maybe handled something unexpectedly, but brilliantly so.

depends on what you’re looking to do. For corporate stuff I’ve used Snap Surveys which is really powerful but expensive. Essentially you buy the desktop version, publish your survey online and then analyse the data.

survey monkey I use for SMEs with lower target audiences.

The survey I was running was very limited and that was fine but it only lasted 10 days. I have now switched to SurveyGizmo (thanks allgood2!) to try their free service. For small use I am using it for it does not warrant any investment as yet but I am expanding my knowledge about online surveys should one of my clients need a more substantial offering.

Not sure it’s what you’d need, but I absolutely love Wufoo and can very highly recommend it.

Wuffo is good (I think Machform is better - selfhosted) but both are really form generators as opposed to survey software. I’ve used limesurvey for years and highly recommend it - open source, php plays well with EE.

There are a number of things that will help you create forms, that obviously can be used as surveys. I think the great thing about the various survey services, is that they do more. They will often aggregate data on the fly, allow you to send out notices, and a number of other tasks, that makes doing things like immediate evaluations, or long-term surveys easy. I was a big fan of phpESP, and still have a client using them. But building in stops, skips, if/then etc., can be a bit time-consuming.
