    Hi,

I am working on publishing a few education e-books for my tech and web design students and trying to think about the best format.

Would you say that it would be better - easier for me to create and easier for students to use - the online version as blog entries or as a wiki?  If you have reasons one way or the other I would love to here them.

    Thanks!

If you want to allow reactions in the form of comments but retain control of the main body of content - blog entries.

If you want students to work in a collaborative manner with you on the content but don’t want comments - wiki.

If a revision history is important - wiki.

Another consideration is that you may someday want to publish an actual book of this material. If that’s the case, you might be better off with a blog. That way you will very clearly own the copyright. I’m not sure of the copyright issues with wikis.

Thanks, those are some good considerations.

I don’t think that I will have students updating the book portion much, and the copyright or at least some some creative licensing would nice for the future.

How much could a wiki be integrated with blog posts?  For example, could a page have a blog entry with related wiki entries on the same page, in a similar way that blog posts can be related?  Maybe that wouldn’t be very practical.

No, the wiki is relatively separate. It is a separate module with separate templates.
