    Hi,

I am happily running EE 1.6x. Because EE 1.6x doesn’t have auto-expire for members (i.e., I need to limit the duration of certain paid member groups), we are looking at a custom extension/module build. No problem, but my only concern is: perhaps EE 2.0 will render this effort moot, if it perhaps has better membership features.

    I looked at this http://expressionengine.com/ee2_sneak_preview/

but it’s really a tease! The “New Features” does not list new features at all (it says about the platform)...

is there any information about the new features, the membership features in particular, for EE 2.0?

    Thanks, David Harper @ http://www.bionicturtle.com

David, I am afraid the available information you linked to is the only public information available at this time. Sorry, no further news yet.

    Ingmar,

that’s a bit frustrating to development efforts, surely you understand. Ahead of a major new release, it is hard to tell whether certain customizations are necessary. I may spend money to add something that will be in 2.0.

I’m not asking for details but instead a few bullets about product intent…if i understand correctly, 2.0 was demo’d and discussed in semi-public so i’m not sure why you folks are so coy about your plans, esp if they have been shared. (and also, it’s not the anecdotal trend as far as i see, the other tools we use - those companies are quite transparent about their plans; e.g., Adobe has labs; EditGrid publishes a roadmap).

    Thanks,
    David Harper

    Hi, David,

You can see our thoughts on roadmaps.  We understand it is frustrating, but we still recommend you develop based on what is available currently.

    Hi Lisa,

Okay, that saves me the step of elevating this to the Dir of Comm Services 😊

Totally congrats on the promo, you are like the face of EE to me, so I hope they backed up the title with cold hard cash.
