A while ago I wrote a todo list/project management tool on top of EE.  It has modules, extensions, plugins and hacks and was never intnded to stay as an EE system forever.  The time has come to rewrite and my plan was to convert it to CI and as if by magic I see EE itself is going the same way!  Is there any documentation as to how to do this process?

Right off the bat - this is going to be a lot of work.  There is no clearcut way on how to do this, but it will require a complete rewrite.

If you’re serious about doing this, I would suggest you figure out a base layer of functionality and go for that first.

My plan was to write the basic functionality as an api - using the xml rest module in CI.  I can test it by calling the apis from my existing code, then write a new CI front end. Sounds like starting from scratch is the best way, rather than porting code then.

I would refer to the excellent CI documentation to get started. I don’t know your functionality requirements, but todo list type apps would be fairly straight-forward to build in CI.
