I know there is a multi relationship extension/plugin but it’s buggy and it seems like a lot of stuff breaks when it’s turned on. I can’t use the no_related_entries tag with it either.

Is this functionality built-in to the next version of Expression Engine? I would think that if you’re going to have relationships, you should at least be able to have the same types of relationships that we’re all used to… 1-1, 1-many, many-1, many-many.

The relationship functionality is one of the strongest features of EE in my opinion, so I really hope you guys keep improving and extending it with the next version.

I turned to the dark side (PHP) to fix a problem I was having with relationships, I recommend giving that a try if it isn’t playing ball.

You can see what I did here if it helps.

Have you ever tried Playa? You should look into that. =P

We need a weblog to have multi-relationships and be able to pull from multiple weblogs. Playa is perfect, but our server isn’t running PHP5.

Anyone know of a PHP4 compatible version of something exactly like Playa, or any kind of workaround?

    Hi Andy,

You can if you feel the desire to - add in a slight hack to the mod.weblog.php file if you need this functionality in PHP V4.

I have done this quite a few times now and have never come across any problems in doing so but it is obviously up to the individual as to whether they want to go down this route or not though.

For me the sheer ease of using Playa totally outweighed the decision on whether to modify the file or not so I did 😉

Don’t know if that helps at all but it definitely did for me and I have been running a couple of sites for a while now using this method and they have never had any problems.

    Best wishes,

I’ve no problems with doing this if it works and causes no issues and it appears to have worked splendidly. Cheers!

Wow you seem to have tried it all out in the same time as writing that sentence!! 😉

Glad it all went smoothly for you.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
