    Just quickly touching on something as we’re establishing a new EE environment.

    When EE 2 is rolled out later this year, is the same approach to upgrades going to be taken?

    i.e. the complete removal of the entire EE 1.6.x branch, and forced incremental upgrade to 2.0 from 1.6.x?

    Or alternatively will 2.0 be handed out as a new environment with an importer… and 1.6.x left available for users as a tried & tested platform?

    Ultimately I’m just wondering if 1.6.x -> 2.0 will be a ‘patch’

    Thank you,
    Andrew

    All that’s official so far can be found in the EEII FAQ.

    What can I do to get ready for ExpressionEngine 2.0?  (*)

    We intend to make upgrading from 1.6.3 to 2.0 as smooth and seamless as possible. You can prepare by updating your existing ExpressionEngine installation to the latest release, which is 1.6.3. When ExpressionEngine 2.0 is released we will make any additional steps necessary for the upgrade available in the User Guide in our usual thorough fashion.

    And I’m going to shift this one up to ‘General’ where it’s a bit better fit.
