I’ve been looking at EE for some time to use for a non-profit site. I’ve experimented with Core; I get it and I really like it.
But there’s one thing I dread, which is explaining to the other less technical authors and administrators that the term weblog is historical and misleading: EE says zucchini but they really mean vegetable.
Clearly it’s an issue, if the top of the first tutorial has to explain what “weblog” really means in red type. And I often see people writing about EE say something like “weblog/section” or something just to make it clear.
With the transition to EE2, is there any thought of gently deprecating “weblog” in favor of “section”? I know I can change it in the control panel, but perhaps “section” could be the new default. And {exp:section:foo} could be an alias for {exp:weblog:foo}.
Well, probably not. Just askin’. This is not going to stop me from picking EE, but it would make it easier.
(I’d post this in Feature Requests if I could.)
