    Now we know what kind of functionality the bug tracker will have.  The first thing the bug tracker needs to do is accept bug reports.  We don’t really want to give all of our members access to the control panel, but really any member should be able to submit a bug.

    Let’s explore getting the bug reporting set up then, shall we?

    Onwards!

    would it be easy for users to add a document (upload functionality)?

    Yes, and the documentation example does include the file upload - it was removed for this Bug Tracker, though.

    Ah, great… this series is not only great for the bugtracker but also for general grasping of EE.

    Looking at the illustration of the tracker with its styles applied, I see that mine aren’t working.

    —My bug tracker template group is named: bug_tracker
    and the css template is named:bug_tracker_css

    —My inc/.head template contains:

    <head>
    <title>{embed:title}</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="{stylesheet="bug_tracker/bug_tracker_css"}" />
    </head>

    —Index and submit_bug pages contain {embed="inc/.head" title="Bug Tracker"}

    Can you see anything wrong with my syntax/placement that’s keeping the CSS from being rendered?

    Thanks.

    It looks fine.  What I’d recommend is viewing the rendered page and finding the CSS call, copy and paste the URL into your browser -what do you get back?

    Hey Lisa,

    Not to “bug” you or anything…</terrible pun>  😛

    Any idea when you will give us the next part of this lesson?

    As mentioned in another thread, I do attempt to post every week, but I am, unfortunately, not always able to get to it.  I expect to have one up later this week.

    From view source I get this:

    <a href="http://www.biom.net/index.php?css=bug_tracker/bug_tracker_css">http://www.biom.net/index.php?css=bug_tracker/bug_tracker_css</a>

    And when I plug it into the brower, it returns nothing :/

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Well, it should be returning your CSS code.  If you open bug_tracker/bug_tracker_css - is there content in there?  Is the template set as type stylesheet?

    It is now ...

    and it’s a good thing for me that I don’t embarrass all that easily anymore.

    Ready for the next installment.

    Thanks, Lisa.

    This is great, Lisa.  But one question…

    What about when I want to provide the ability to edit an Entry?  I don’t see a standalone Edit form anywhere?

    There is not a stand-alone edit form as an existing feature in ExpressionEngine, so that won’t be included with this tutorial. However, if you need that, you can find some instructions on creating one in the wiki =)
