I’m getting ready to port a Joomla site to EE.  Users of this site regularly post content to the site in a number of different categories.  Different users have the ability to post different into different categories.

I confess that I am still pretty fuzzy on how to configure the user’s ability to add/edit content.

Interested to hear how others are handling these situations.

    TIA

If you need different permissions for various usergroups, you should separate them on a per-weblog basis. Where you might run into limitations is the fact that every user belongs to one, and exactly one, usergroup: no multiple groups.

Check out Solspace’s “User” module, it me be helpful.

Can I set things up so that a usergroup can publish to mutliple weblogs, as I would probably organize the content-types into separate weblogs?

Are there examples anywhere of how others have accomplished this?

Does anyone know whether EE2.0 will handle members differently?

    TIA

That, yes. So you can have Weblog A, and assign publishing rights to groups 1, 2 and 3, and Weblog B where only group 3 may publish, and so on.

We can only hope for the best. EL are well of aware of this longstanding feature request, but it’s not trivial to solve.
