Something I noticed while searching for my site on google. Keep in mind I have tried this on two different servers, for two different domains and they both give the same results. Which leads me to believe that it’s inherent in EE.
Let’s say I want to visit a site using EE(paid for version 1.6), and I type the following into the address bar, http://www.xyz.com/index.php, I get the home page, if I also type in http://www.xyz.com/index.php/site, I also get the home page. As far as the SE’s are concerned that’s duplicate content.
Same thing goes for the page links at the bottom. For instance http://www.xyz.com/index.php/P10 is the same as http://www.xyz.com/index.php/site/P10, site being the default template. So in essence every one of my pages are at two different URL addresses. Thus the dupe content penalty from google.
What, if anything, can I do to stop this?
