It would be nice if there were more built in cp_global_images (such as the entire famfamfam libray) for module/extension developers to use for a more cohesive look and feel.

    Hiya Louis,

Whilst this is a very good idea which I do stand behind I think that you have to look at the fact that a lot of developers making their own modules and extensions may want to use their own icons by which to set their work apart from others. As most of the icons are generally in the back-end of EE and not so much in the front-end templates that display to people visiting a site then I think this would be down to the particular developer and not something that they should be forced into using.

I do however agree that it would be nice to have more icons available but then you have to ask yourself, exactly what icons do we need? The many different modules that are out there perform very different jobs and so getting an icon collection together that would answer all of those could be quite difficult.

I do stand behind the idea though for a more cohesive look and feel.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

I can see how some people would want their modules to look different, good point. Personally though I would want to develop a module which looks like its part of EE.

It would be hard to come up with a universal set of icons. The best I have found is Silk from Fam Fam Fam, here is a preview (warning, its a pretty big png - there are over 1000 icons).

    Hi again,

Yes I’ve seen that set of icons before. They have been around for quite a while now. There are around 20 really good free to use icon sets on the net that I know of but there are probably a whole heap more. As to making your module look like the other modules in EE then if you follow the standard EE programming guidelines then you should be able to make your module look exactly the same as others as EE does have a lot of built in display methods for modules and extensions that just work out of the box so to say.

    Hope that helps.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
