    Hello Everyone,
I am very new to Expression Engine. I really don’t know whether it is possible to add a new link in top navigation of Admin panel along with the existing links for Publish, Edit, Templates etc. I am developing a application, in which I want to provide a report link in top navigation of admin section. How to do this?

You can set new tabs on a per user level- look up in the top right of the control panel?  See the ‘New Tab’ link?  Visit the desired destination and click that tab.  Though note- it is a per user setting.

    Will that do the trick?

I have seen the new tab link but it’s not satisfying my requirement. I want to fix the report link with other links like Publish, Edit etc. Means whenever user loggs into the control panel he will get the report link along with remaining top links.

    Hiya,

Not sure if this post that I helped someone with some time back will help at all? Whilst I’m pretty sure from what I am reading here you actually want a tab as opposed to the quick links that are available in the control panel I just thought that this might help in the interim?

Saying that I know that you can, when you are creating a module, create a new admin panel tab as you are asking for but I have never done that yet so wouldn’t know how to. There is a post here that even has a sample for you to download that might help?

    Hope it helps.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hey Ya netlinkblue,

If you want to add a new link to the top of the admin you could try creating an extension.

My LG Add Sitename extension allows you to modify the admin header.

Maybe you could modify the extension to target the left hand links as well.

    Cheers Leevi

Plus don’t forget the post that I referred to above which has a sample extension which adds both a tab and a tab block so maybe you could modify that to do what you need.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
