I know that a lot of people like minimalist design. And a good example is the Grid focus theme for Wordpress, made by Derek Punsalan of 5thirtyone.com.

I ported his theme to Expression Engine. In the zip-file you’ll find the templates, a readme-file and some images and scripts.
There is some room left for your own menuchoices in the topmenu.

I hope you’ll like it as much as I did making it.

Update jan 13: I found a hardcoded-link to my site in the header-template. I corrected that. And I got a message that there was too much MacOS stuff inside. That’s removed now.

Nice job, IJsbeer!  I had my eye on porting this one over to EE eventually.  You beat me to it.  😛

Thank you. I had ported Hemingway, and just before I wanted it to share I found your submission. It’s a tough competition..😊

Well done both. I’m just setting up EE for my personal blog after abandoning it some time ago (for lack of good themes). The standard Themes are terrible compared to Wordpress though. Yes, I know there’s a lot more to EE, but a *few* good themes would be nice.
GridFocus, Hemmingway and Depo all look like nice clean themes.

ps. Ellis Labs, how about creating a third-party Theme preview area on the site where people could upload new or ported themes? ie. try to encourage theme development for expression engine.
