Flash animation development time

I thought I’d ask this question here, because it’s one I just now needed the answer to. The manager of a project I’m working on wants a flash introductory animation for the home page of the application. I have a very little bit of experience in flash, but I could intuit that it would be a long time (I quoted at least 10x the time of a non-animated image-and-text based page). The model animation in this case is the one on the Dropsend home page.

If one has a basic idea of what a quick informational flash animation would look like, how long would it take a pair of Flash novices to storyboard, design, and animate it? This would take into account possible redesigns or tweaks to improve timing, clarity, or whatever else that might upset a smooth translation from my sketchbook into a finalized flash product.

Its a pretty straightforward task.  There’s no interactivity besides the button… in general, with a good storyboard, it wouldn’t take very long.  Doubt it would take a half day.

It might take a chunk of time though to develop the character designs, storyboard, decide on the art, that type of thing.
