As you know the Title field can only be so long and won’t accept italics.  So, I created a new custom field {longtitle} to get round this.

Unfortunately while my conditional code works fine when I am displaying entries it goes awry when being used with the Next/Previous Entry code.  Even when I cut out all the conditional stuff, EE seems to deny the custom field’s existence.

Is this how it is supposed to work?

Custom fields are, indeed, not available to the next/previous links. You could put in a feature request for this to change; alternatively, you could use a custom query or plugin to achieve this.

Which plugin can be used to do this?

I would like to print either a custom field or the standard TITLE field. Is that possible?

This isn’t currently possible, and that hasn’t changed since my first response.  To my knowledge, there is not currently a plugin for this, so you’d need to develop one yourself, or use the query module to pull that information.

    Ok, thanks Lisa!

Do you have (or anyone else) a good example of SQL code I can use with the query module to pull that info? I bet there are lot more people who’re using previous and next links on their blogs 😉

    Anything in the Wiki maybe?

Besides using the query module as a solution, I can always use the weblog:entries tag with the right offset no? A bit cheeky I know….

titm0use, you might want to create a new thread in the How To forum for more feedback from the community.

    Good idea! Thanks Sue.
