    Hello,
I have a registration form that is acutally acting as a application for membership, so I have a ton of custom fields, which the form itself works great. I guess the problem I’m having is when the site manager goes in to view pending members to view their info, the custom fields don’t show, just the basic username, screen name email…etc… Is there a way to get the control panel to show the custom fields similar to how FreeForm shows its fields, or is there a way to use a FreeForm form to register members and so it shows all the fields?

Also, is there a way for EE to automatically assign a username and password to members? For example a new user fills out the application, and they become a pending member, the site admin goes in and views the application and if they approve, it sends the user an email automatically generating a username and password for them.

    Thanks

I believe the general answer for all of the above is going to require custom coding.  And I may shift this over to ‘How to’ so you can brainstorm on alternatives.  To be a bit more specific…

The view pending members doesn’t show the custom fields- and there isn’t a stock way to change that (though I do believe there has been a feature request- which is a good idea).  I know I’ve gotten creative with the email notification and having it send the custom fields- and then using a link in the email to approve/disapprove- think I did it all in extensions and a tiny module- but you’re definitely talking some customization to work around this one.

With the username and password- the sop is for the user to select those when they register.  And normally, the admins couldn’t get a non-encrypted version of the password to send.  So again- if you want to change how that operates, it will likely take some custom coding.

I think you could probably come up with a workaround that doesn’t involve hacks- there are plenty of hooks in the registration code.  But I don’t think it can be done without some custom coding somewhere along the line.

    Make sense?
