I have a potential client who wants to rebuild her site and offer her clients the possibility of ‘logging in’ and checking the Web Stats for their own specific Entry.

Each of her clients will have an Entry, ordered according to weblog > category, that she will input. But part of the deal that her clients get for being listed on the site would be the ability to track the performance of their own individual Entries. The requisites are simple: Unique Views, URL Clicks, Email Clicks, Request for more info and Request made from an embedded form, all of which should be listed by day/month.

I’ve been mulling over this and have gone through a few mental scenarioes. None of which I like. Eg:

    1.  Implement Google Analytics. At first I proposed implementing a Global GA to track how her site was performing. For every new client we’d add a new GA account, add the script marker to the global script, configure GA to track url links and forms submitted and give the client login details to check their entry’s preformance. However, this would require a lot of manual fiddling to set it up every time a new client were added to the system. GA offers way too much info than the client would care about. And GA’s interface makes it difficult to visualise in a clear and concise way usage on a monthly / daily basis. It also visibly slows the system down.

    2. Multiple installs of Mint. After reading much fanfare about Mint I had a look, thought that the simple, attractive display of information would do the trick and considered installing a copy of Mint for every client. However, there are currently 68 clients: 68 databases, 68 configurations, no automation for new clients. I’ve gone off the idea.

    3. Installing AWStats or a similar Logs elaborating app, again, would not be automated, would require configuring and would provide too much information.

The ideal solution would be that each client could log into the front end, go to their entry and ‘only they’ {if member == X} could view Entry Hits, the 2 clicked links and the clicked submit button over a period of time (day per month).

What’s the best way of achieving this?

    Seb
