A school I work with had someone set up an online video school using a non-EE cms last year. I’ve become more involved in this project now and took a look at their databse. It has almost 900 tables!

I’m no mysql expert so I was wondering if this would cause unstability for our webhost’s shared server? Would I have a case for proposing that this site be re-done in EE based on this?

I can think of reasons for there needing to be that many tables, but those reasons would be somewhat uncommon.  MySQL can handle that many tables just fine, as long as they are not bumping into a memory limit for the database size.
