I’m looking for a solution that enables me to use the search function for gallery entries also. I’ve seen that it’s possible but can’t figure out how to configure the EE search to include gallery posts too. Is this documented and am i missing something?

Thanks in advanced for any help.

No, you haven’t missed anything.  There isn’t currently a native search ability for the gallery.  (Though if you look closely, you can tell it’s planned via a few hints in the cp and the code.)  Currently, searching the gallery isn’t an available option- if it’s mission critical, you’d need to find a custom solution.  (I need it too, but since it’s not top priority for me right now, I’m just waiting and hoping it makes it into EE before I have to roll my own.)

Ok, thanks for the info. I’ll move it down on my todo list for things to do for my site 😊

LOL- I think a few of us are doing that.  Though I suspect it will take a version update before we see the gallery search in there- money bet there will be db changes.  Still- if it doesn’t have to happen ‘right now’, it can’t hurt to hold off a bit on it.  Least that’s been my logic.

I have waited for the search opportunity sinch the first version of the gallery module. I just wonder why there is a option in the costum Entry Field prefs “Field searchable Yes/no”. Is this just to be prepared for the future?

I believe that showed up w/ 1.6.  And it’s the only indication I have that there might be plans in that direction (I’m not ‘in the know’ otherwise).  I believe it was simpler to leave it in than take it out- hence it’s there.  But currently- no search ability for the gallery exists.
