I’d like to start a community portal which enables the users to start groups and/or events and “join” them.
I cannot seem to find an existing plugin for this.
Any ideas on how this could be done in a simple way?

bjorn, you might search the pre-sales forum for “organic groups” - as I believe he was asking the same question. =)

Ok, found it.
I take it this is something that needs to be built as a module.
