Hello, I am using EE for my blog site.

Will frequency of content update on my EE blog impact on the search engine optimization?

I was reading all sorts of blog SEO tips.  I found that many people say the frequent posting is very important, because Google will penalize you on SEO if you are not writing often enough on your blog.

Many of these stories are written by WordPress users. Their argument is if Google consider you as a blog, you have to write often, if Google considers you as a website, you do not need to update that often.

Is EE content considered as a blog or website by Google? And would you recommend me to post very often to keep SEO going? When you don’t post often have you seen your Google ranking go down?

    All the best,
    Alec

I can confirm this for my photography site, which I used to update weekly, but now I think once every two months. What I noticed is that Google refreshes the cache of my site less frequently then before.

But the main result is less visitors, because there is less news. And when there’s less news, less people will look for information on my site, I’ll get less references and so my stats are dropping. Not just because of some Google variable, but merely because you have to keep your site alive and up to date.

It goes without saying that if you post less frequently your indexing will go down. I mean the more frequently new data is added to your site the better.

As far as ee? it’s not considered at all. EE is an engine and backend management system. What matters to search engines is optimization. The software managing the site is irrelevant to the search engine. it’s content that matters. The difference would be how optimized your data is. This is yet another place where EE shines because the control of your site is 100% up to you. You can hire SEO experts to do work or anything you can think of can be done by you if you’re familiar with it.
