For all those who say they are beginners, none compare to my truly novice experience with EE.  In fact, to be perfectly honest, I’m laying out these questions in hopes that I can find answers to give my boss.  Thus I ask that you to be gentle and take it easy on me.

    1) How robust is the search engine?  Can you designate search bars for specific sections of a given site?

    2) Can tagged content result in a better search within a EE based site?

    3) Can you do tag clouds within the site as a whole or within certain subsections of the site?

    4) How hard is it to encode your own e-commerce system into a EE based site?

    5) How hard is it to embed my own personal media player into pages of an EE based site?

Thank you for not throwing rocks and running me out of Dodge, and anyone who wants to take the time to answer these questions I am eternally grateful.

We all must start somewhere =)

    1) How robust is the search engine?  Can you designate search bars for specific sections of a given site?

If those sections are a particular weblog, then yes you can.

    2) Can tagged content result in a better search within a EE based site?

    3) Can you do tag clouds within the site as a whole or within certain subsections of the site?

Check out the Tag module from solspace.com for your Tagging needs.

    4) How hard is it to encode your own e-commerce system into a EE based site?

This depends on what you want. If you can just use PayPal, then you can use the Simple Commerce Module very easily. If you need something more robust, you will need a custom solution; many use aMember to integrate systems.  If you can expand on your e-commerce needs we can supply more information here.

    5) How hard is it to embed my own personal media player into pages of an EE based site?

Easy, it’s all in the template.

Thank you for not throwing rocks and running me out of Dodge, and anyone who wants to take the time to answer these questions I am eternally grateful.

I’m the resident thrower of Things, and I only throw pillows, promise, and all in good humor. =)
