Building an ExpressionEngine Site by Michael Boyink.

Sorry about the lighting in this video. I didn’t realize how much the outside light was shifting until after I was done recording. Since one of my goals is to produce these in 30 minutes or less I just left it as is since I was just about out of time. But now I know and that’s half the battle right?

Next week Jones and I have cooked up something completely different. We’ll be attending a funeral so make sure your black formal wear is ready to go.

EE-1.6 RIP…EE-2.0 (with full commerce module) Happy Birthday 😉

Edit-Add: And thanks to all that have helped over the years. If I even tried to list everyone it would be a mile long.

Leslies suggestion to give public thanks to users here is a great one.

    Wow.  What a nice surprise.

    Firstly - you’re welcome.

And secondly - thanks right back to you.

When I look at how much of my income comes from EE work these days the time it’s taking to write up the tutorials is pretty insignificant.

I had to chuckle though - you pronounced my last name like every new school teacher I ever had.  It really is a one-syllable, sound effect name…:-)

Too many people and their tid bits to thank. But Boyink and mdesign are my local EE heros, and I wouldn’t be where I’m at without those two guys.

A big thank-you to the people who donate code-snippets, plug-ins, extensions and modules to the community.
(solspace, mark, boinkboyink and others come to mind).

Next to the EE-comunity, i would like to thank Derek Allard. I came to EE via Codeigniter. Handcrafting our php-based websites, i was looking into some frameworks for a bit of structured (OO/MVC) programming. Looked at Derek’s Bamboo a bit and found out about EE. A lot of things happened since then, and around the time Derek joined Ellislab, my main-programmer didn’t really want to jump boat to CI and i decided to give EE a try as a basic CMS for some of my client-projects. However, I’m still a newbie and trying to learn EE tags and stuff.

I too want to thank ALL who contribute to this community with advice and/or code. Like Leslie said, we have the opportunity to make each others day that much better by offering a helping hand. I’d like to thank a few individuals who have helped me out numerous times and made my days that much better.

Thanks to Mr. Wilson who has helped me more times than I can count. From answering my endless questions to writing a plugin for me! He’s a gifted developer and quite a nice fellow. Thanks to Lisa Wess for providing answers and always asking the right questions to help me think through problems. Thanks to Sue Crocker. She is such a friendly and helpful personality who is always ready to help. Thanks to Leslie (the mouth piece of EllisLab) for providing such great communication between EllisLab and the community on a personal level. Thanks to Derek Jones for his knowledgeable technical help for overcoming obstacles.

And those are just a sampling of the folks who have helped me.

Lastly but not least, thanks to the EllisLab team for Expression Engine and the experience that comes with that. A tool that makes working with websites so much simpler than it used to be. Which in turn makes working with clients easier too.

I have to thank Lisa Wess for helping me and everyone else who has ever breathed the word, “ExpressionEngine.” Without you, I and a lot of other people would be wandering around in circles.
