    Hi,

When I try to make a new gallery the image path settings have been changed automatically and wrongly after I click on the update button.

For example in (Gallery preferences / image paths/ * Server Path to Image Directory ) I enter: ( the name of the site has been changed )
    D:\www\example.com\www\ee\images\ photo_images

then click update and open the image paths section again.
    now it says:
    D:/www/example.com/www/ee/images/ photo_images/

So the \ was changes into /.

Also, at times the gallery name is inserted into the gallery url, but that is not consistent: I can’t reproduce that.

The result is that no gallery is created.

Earlier I entered a problem with ‘view rendered template” gives “page not found”  ‘
    That may be related.

I am on a windows based host with ExpressionEngine 1.6.0   Build:  20070726

What can be done to resolve this?

    Thanks,
    Durk

I know they’ve tweaked the way slashes in paths have been handled due to similar issues with configuration settings.  (It’s related to windows style paths.)  However, that was an earlier build- so I’m not sure if the gallery got skipped or if the tweak goofed the gallery.

Before we dig too deeply, can you upgrade to the very latest build?  You’re one build back.  While I don’t see a path tweak mentioned in that upgrade, it’s still possible it might provide a fix.  And if not, we’ll all be looking at the same code base.

Let me know if that makes any difference.

    thanks Robin.
I had downloaded the 0815 build, and before installing it wanted to check the url in my other problem in this forum ( the gallery visit that does not work. ) to answer your question about that problem.
It turned out that the problems are resolved without me having done anything. Both for this one about the changing slashes and the one where I could not visit a gallery. So the slashes do not change anymore and I can visit the gallery now.

I suppose the problem will come back in some way, but I will deal with it them.

By the way, in your opinion: are unix servers in general more stable than windows servers or is there no difference? I have the feeling that it is the case and consider moving from my current windows host to a unix host.

    Best regards.

Hm- odd, but glad it cleared up.  If it happens again, definitely let us know.

As to unix vs. windows- I know unix is vastly preferred around here.  But I’ve heard it said that a truly good server guru can have the windows box humming as well.

But in truth- I myself am no server guru.  From a tech standpoint, I know we’re far more likely to see quirky issues crop up on a windows box.

This is happening to me also. I’ve changed the path several times and it keep reverting back. I’m on a winodws system (though only by force!).  I’m running the latest build (8/15).

I can visit the gallery but not thumbs or images.

I’ve also checked the images and they seem to have been uploaded and sized by the batch tool ok.

    Ideas?

    EDIT:
    The Admin area is showing:
    C:www/xampp/htdocs/seaside/themes/

But the gallery prefs are showing this, and if I change, always reverts back. Also, sometimes it inserts multiple slashes:
    C:/www/xampp/htdocs/seaside/images/galleries/

Sorry to bump this but I still can’t see images, and the site is due to launch (rough) tomorrow, final by the end of the week.

    Suggestions?

EDIT: Also, I’ve noticed a very strange thing. When I select the New Entry tab, then choose a file listed on the server, it pops-up a window with my header image in it!  Strange, since this is in a totally different directory (images/site_img/), and the gallery images are in (images/galleries/... ).

    SOLVED!

I went over this a million times, which I guess contributed to the problem (seeing paths for a bizillion times gets exhausting), but I have to say it’s a little confusing…

For the Gallery URL, the path must have the index.php, and template group. This is explained in the docs.  However, for the “Full URL to Image directory” preference does not indicate whether you insert the index.php, or whether to use the template group to form the URL. I find this confusing since all other URLs go through the template engine (and thus, the index.php and template group/name, which this URL does not have).

It would be really nice if the docs were updated to be a little clearer here, and provided an example URL so we can see that it’s different than the Gallery URL.

    Thanks.
