When you start a new site, and buy the Big3 domain names (.net .org & .com), do you create a different site identity for all 3? Or do you mirror your sites, and point them all to the same?

I think I figured something out today.

Through clever use of domain pointers, I can have each of his domain names point to a different directory/subdomain of the primary account, and have each operate seperately.

Or have I totally misunderstood what Domain Pointers can do?!

why would you want to do that…

Not really GONNA do it, but it’s feasible, right?

He (the client) mentioned that he’d want, someday, to have his own personal site to share moments with faraway family. He’s from Centro Mejico, and longs to keep in touch with his familia.
I figured (this just hypothetical) one would be his new business site. The other his personal site with family login access. And the other, down the road, his other business site.
I dunno, I just didn’t realize that 3 different domain names, could equal three sites, one host, three directories.
I’m just toying with the ideas, thats all 😊

... the reason you buy the big 3 is so that no one else register a .net/org while you have your .com

I made the mistake YEARS ago, when I bought my personal domain. Some other bozo owns the other tld.
    :(

They’re entirely different domains, they can point wherever you want =)
